Innovators are the beating heart of any successful region.

And their ingenuity will be key as we slowly emerge into a post-pandemic world.

Luckily, the West Midlands is blessed with burgeoning creative talent - and that鈥檚 something that BT is keen to champion.

The company is a proud headline and category sponsor of this year鈥檚 , held in association with BusinessLive . The awards recognise the use of digital technologies and innovation and are open to individuals and companies based in or connected to Birmingham, Coventry, Warwickshire, the Black Country, Solihull and South Staffordshire.

鈥淚t is so important that you get involved in the West Midlands Tech Awards,鈥 says Ash Roots, managing director for incubation in BT鈥檚 Digital Unit.

鈥淓veryone has that idea in their head. You just have to bring it out in the open and share it with others and you never know where it might go.鈥

Ideas are something BT, the 海角视频鈥檚 largest communications and network provider knows a thing or two about.

The company has long since spotted the potential of a region previously a global centre for manufacturing and automotive production, investing heavily in a number of pioneering 5G partnerships which are helping to advance industries such as manufacturing, healthcare and transport.

鈥淲e have been around a long time as an organisation but we have always been at the forefront of Innovation,鈥 explains Ash.

"The West Midlands has a reputation as a hotbed of innovation and Birmingham is the country鈥檚 largest tech city outside London.

"The access to world class talent, a healthy ecosystem of technology firms and leading universities, is a major reason why we decided to locate some of pioneering technology research and product development at Three Snowhill, Birmingham, our new regional hub in the Midlands."

BT champions the people and communities behind those great ideas, too, as Ash explains: 鈥淲e focus on supporting people outside of the organisation. For example, our BT Hope United campaign is all about supporting and educating people on what to do with things like online hate and supporting kids or adults on what to do if there are facebook or social media situations that are not acceptable.

鈥淲e鈥檝e understood over the past year that it鈥檚 more important than ever to be kind to one another, to support each other either at home or at work and the key part of that is empathy.

鈥淪o we are really chuffed to be the headline sponsors of because it鈥檚 right at the centre of what we are trying to do at BT.
