Innovation, resilience and sheer hard work are key factors in the success of our business community.

That tenacity has come to the fore as many not only survived - but thrived - despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit.

And that’s something Barclays - headline and category sponsor of this year’s - is keen to champion.

“It has become one of the key events in the business calendar locally as it helps recognise inspiring businesses that have overcome challenges and have succeeded,” said Duncan McCunn, head of Cambridgeshire mid-corporate banking at .

“It's a great opportunity to pay tribute to those companies that are investing not only in their future but that of their staff and local communities.

Headline sponsor of the CambridgeshireLive Business Awards for a seventh year, and sponsoring the Barclays Award for Large Business of the Year, has supported business and innovation for more than 325 years.

Duncan McCunn, head of mid-corporate, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, said: "Barclays is proud to sponsor the awards, as they showcase the very best of Cambridgeshire business. We’re dedicated to helping companies take action to address the environmental and sustainability challenges facing our planet.

"We believe that an inclusive economy is a better economy for everyone, investing in citizenship programmes to have long-term positive impacts in local communities."

“The last two years have been a time of much uncertainty and change but we’ve seen that local companies can adapt and innovate to meet the challenges we’ve experienced.

“Perhaps now more than ever it's worthwhile taking time out to recognise businesses that are doing well – and the people behind those success stories.

This year - which has sponsored the event for a number of years - has three principal categories, Small Business of the Year, Medium Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year.

It’s something that reflects the importance it places on developing and maintaining its strong ties with the Cambridgeshire community.

“Fundamentally we want to be at the forefront helping our customers to build back better,” said Duncan.

“And we are also keen to help our businesses to build sustainably, sharing experience with other clients and helping on the journey to net zero,”

And the awards - which will this year be a glittering ceremony at Great Hall, King's College on Thursday, March 24 - can act as a great springboard for future successes, too.

“There are a long long list of winners who have gone on to be some of the most successful businesses in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ,” said Duncan.

“And the profile that these awards bring really helps towards that journey.”
