The Greater Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2021 are run in partnership with The Ladder for Greater Birmingham and will be held on November 11. Nominations are now open.

Group chief executive Chris Luty said: "We are looking for those who have designed and implemented an exciting and innovative apprenticeship programme (for one or many apprentices). Judges will reward those who can demonstrate commitment to the apprenticeship scheme and highlight its measurable benefits as well as outstanding leadership when it comes to mentoring their staff through to the successful completion of an apprenticeship programme."

Chris said that post-pandemic and post-Brexit, the challenge for Birmingham has never been greater.

"Already we have major recruitment shortages in some of the regions key sectors like construction and logistics, affecting large and small employer alike," he explained. "To survive and prosper businesses of all sizes need to urgently to tackle not just their immediate but also long-term skills needs."
