Launched with a vital rallying call to recognise resilience, the Hull Daily Mail / Hull Live Business Awards has secured high-profile backing for a new category that exemplifies 2020.
Humber Local Enterprise Partnership has come on board to support the Business in the Face of Adversity accolade.
Brought forward to underline the unprecedented situation so many have had to contend with, it will shine a light on the effort and determination that has conquered the coronavirus pandemic’s impact.
The LEP’s Humber Business Growth Hub Scheme has been at the forefront of the support rolled out in the region.
When lockdown began it sprang into action with a programme of support to help our businesses become more resilient.
Stephen Parnaby, chair of the Humber LEP, said: “We are extremely proud of businesses across the Humber who saw the challenging trading conditions they were facing with the arrival of the coronavirus lockdown and took strides to build their resilience.
“Whether they took advantage of new opportunities, developed new and more efficient ways of working or have diversified their offering, we have seen first-hand the fantastic ways businesses have adapted and overcome what has been an unprecedented tough time.
“We are pleased to support the hardworking and innovative businesses of our region through the Humber Business Growth Hub’s Business Growth Scheme, and are delighted to sponsor the Business in the Face of Adversity award.”

The Growth Hub supports our region’s businesses to grow through a series of measures, including a team of dedicated business advisors, grant schemes, workshops and advice.
It has been promoting a mantra of Survive, Revive, Thrive; helping businesses to achieve this through measures including:
Webinars on a variety of topics such as: remote working, re-opening workplaces, mental health and business agility.
Offering and awarding grants to cover support with business recovery and resilience plans, and creating Covid-19 secure reopening plans.
Individual advisor-led assistance in helping to navigate the various government schemes and new measures.
It is one of 15 awards scheduled to be awarded at the annual ceremony, at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Hull on Thursday, November 19.

The awards are open for entries now, and will remain so until Friday, September 18, with finalists to be announced in October.
And the city has shown a wealth of worthy winners in recent months, as businesses adapted, innovated and played a role in ensuring frontline services had all they needed.
From gowns and masks to field hospital fit outs, support on logistics and technical solutions for every day ordering and transactions, Hull and East Riding underlined its capabilities when the call came.
