Following the 海角视频鈥檚 departure from the EU, there are new rules for businesses moving goods into Great Britain. If your business imports food, animal products, plants or plant products from the EU, you may need to pre-notify the authorities that your consignment is entering Great Britain.

If you haven鈥檛 already registered for the relevant IT system, you need to do so now to ensure you comply with the new pre-notification requirements.

Mud & Bloom is one company that was fully prepared for the new rules. A children鈥檚 nature and gardening subscription box company, it delivers seasonal craft, gardening, foraging and nature-spotting activities every month. Over the past four years it has supplied nearly a quarter of a million boxes.

Anja made sure she got support from the Government

As a business, Mud & Bloom relies on the EU market. Owner Anja Ffrench explains: 鈥淏ecause we like to supply organic seeds and bulbs wherever we can, in a lot of cases it is only possible to buy the quantities we need by importing from the EU.

鈥淎ccess to the EU marketplace means we can choose from a wide range of high-quality craft materials, seeds and bulbs.鈥

And being a subscription service means that timing is key, so all consignments must be pre-notified to avoid any hold-ups. 鈥淒elivery times are crucial, so it has been really important to get it right,鈥 Anja explains.

Some imports require specialist advice, and to ensure Mud & Bloom got it right, Anja made sure she got support from the Government website: 鈥淜eep checking gov.uk, and stay in contact with the people you normally speak to around regulations who can advise you about the new rules,鈥 she advises.

Key Points for new EU-GB rules

New requirements for moving goods into the 海角视频 started on January 1, 2022. It鈥檚 not too late, act now to keep your business moving:

  • Pre-notify the authorities of most meat, plant and food product imports.

The new rules do not yet apply to goods moving from the island of Ireland to Great Britain
