X-ray scanner maker Image Scan in confident mood after £800k contract win

Leicestershire manufacturer will supply its ThreatScan portable X-ray systems to a security organisation in Europe

Bill Mawer chief executive of Image Scan Holdings

A supplier of anti-terror X-ray scanners hopes an £800,000 contract win will play a part in helping it overcome recent losses following a disappointing year.

Image Scan said the substantial security X-ray contract would give it new confidence in a crowded market.

The firm’s X-ray systems are used by security services around the world to detect objects such as explosives, drugs and guns inside luggage and packages.

Its products are also used for industrial inspections.

The new contract, which is worth more than £800,000, will see the manufacturer supply its ThreatScan portable X-ray systems to a security organisation in a  European member state.

The business is based in Barrow-upon-Soar in north Leicestershire.

A spokeswoman said: “ThreatScan allows bomb technicians to perform rapid and accurate threat assessment in a wide range of operational scenarios.

“A system consists of a portable X-ray generator, a detection panel and an operator’s workstation running the company’s market-leading image processing software, together with a customer specific range of ancillary equipment.”
