World-leading design consultants appoint new leader for Nottingham office

Global engineering and design firm Arup has announced a new leader for its Nottingham office following a period of sustained growth for the group.

is currently involved in projects including offshore wind farms in East Anglia, the M56 smart motorway and infrastructure work at Toronto Airport.

It has now announced the appointment of John Read, who joined Arup in 1987, as the leader of its hub in Nottingham, at City Gate West.

Mr Read moved to the Nottingham office in 1990 and he has been involved leading complex commercial, leisure, education, industrial and nuclear projects in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and overseas.

He said: "I am delighted, following two years leading the team here in an interim capacity, to be appointed as the leader of our Nottingham office. It’s an exciting time in the East Midlands, as more investment and key developments are underway and demand for our services remains strong.

“I would like to thank Robin Lee, who stepped down from leading our Nottingham office in 2017, for his valued contribution to skilfully steering the direction of our office over many years.  

“The appointment will mean that I continue to lead on supporting our growing team and our ability to develop new skills and service offerings for our clients.

"Integration of disciplines is integral to our work at Arup, and we align all our skills to deliver coordinated high-quality projects across Nottingham and the East Midlands, as well as having specialisms here in Nottingham that are valued internationally.”
