Work could start next year on a new waste-to-energy power station on the South Humber Bank.
Kwasi Kwarteng, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, granted development consent to EP Waste Management Ltd last week for the 95MW plant at Stallingborough.
The 拢300 million build-out will sit alongside the existing gas-fired plant operated by parent company EP 海角视频 Investments.

South Humber Bank Energy Centre, as it is to be known, will supply electricity at a level equivalent to 100,000 homes, processing refuse-derived fuel.
James Crankshaw, head of business development at EP海角视频I, said: 鈥淲e are delighted with the Secretary of State鈥檚 decision. This new Energy Centre will help to play a key role in supporting the path to Net Zero by reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, supporting the local economy and contributing to the security of electricity supplies nationally鈥.
Outlining how construction could begin as 鈥渆arly as 2022, creating up to 600 construction jobs with a further 55 permanent jobs once the plant becomes operational,鈥 Mr Cranshaw also praised the work through the pandemic.
The application was made back in April 2020, following consultations from late 2019.

As well as the 1.4GW South Humber plant, EP海角视频I owns and operates Langage, Ballylumford and Tynagh combined cycle gas turbine power stations, Lynemouth power station which has been converted to 100 per cent renewable biomass and Kilroot power station which is being transitioned to fast, flexible gas generation supporting the path to Net Zero.
Additionally EP 海角视频I owns a number of development projects including a 2,500MW gas fired power station at the site of the former Eggborough coal fired power station near Selby, North Yorkshire and a 1,700MW gas fired power station in Kings Lynn.
