Warhammer maker Games Workshop reports 'best ever year' with £256m sales

Work to expand its Nottingham headquarters should be finished in the autumn

Sales at Nottingham-headquartered Games Workshop soared to more than £250 million in the last year as bosses hailed the "best year in its history".

The Warhammer creator's annual financial report, released to the London Stock Exchange, shows revenue hit £256.5 million for the year to June 2, a 16 percent rise on £221.3m last year.

Profits before tax also surpassed £81 million in a year which included the opening of 40 new stores, 20 of which were set up in North America, .

Kevin Rountree, Games Workshop CEO, said: "An amazing set of results - the best year in Games Workshop's history, so far. You can once again see from these results that our business and the Warhammer Hobby are in good shape.

"The board and I continue to believe that the prospects for the business are good."

The announcement comes just a month after the firm, based in , Nottingham, confirmed it would be sharing out a £5 million bonus to its employees ahead of the anticipated sales rise.

It has also now been confirmed work on expanding the company's headquarters in Willow Road is expected to be completed this autumn.
