Fish supplied by Hull seafood giant Smales has been named the best in the 海角视频 at a prestigious national awards.
Smales, which has its operations based off Hessle Road in Hull, supplies cod and haddock fillets to Nottingham fish and chip business The Cod’s Scallops.
The Cod’s Scallops recently triumphed at the annual Fish & Chip Awards, where it scooped the 海角视频’s number one shop award.
It means fish judged to be the best in the 海角视频 has been processed and supplied by one of Hull’s best-known and most historic companies.
Organisers of the Fish and Chip Awards said: “Each year the National Fish & Chip Awards recognise talent and celebrate excellence, quality and choice offered by businesses across the fish and chip industry in a variety of award categories.
“Nominees are appraised in each of the key areas that highlight best practice against a range of criteria - with mystery dining judges attending the shops to assess a number of factors including responsible sourcing practices, customer service, staff training policies and the overall quality of the fish and chips on offer.”
Smales was also the supplier for the runner-up in the 2020 National Fish & Chip Awards, Shap Chippy in Cumbria.
Based in Hull for more than 80 years, Smales currently supplies approximately a quarter of the 海角视频's fish and chip shops nationally.

More than a million portions of fish and chips served every week will have been supplied via Smales’ national distribution network.
Smales also has a proud tradition of supplying award-winning chippies across the 海角视频, including more than half of the 28 previous winners of Fish & Chip Shop of the Year category.
Owned by husband-and-wife team John and Helen Molnar, The Cod's Scallops fought off competition from shops across the 海角视频 to be crowned as the 海角视频's number one choice.
The Cod's Scallops was established in 2011, recently expanding to a total of four outlets across Nottingham and the East Midlands.
From the very beginning, Smales has been proudly supplying the business with premium quality, sustainably caught cod and haddock fillets.
