An Exeter-headquartered industrial tools wholesaler is targeting significant growth across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ after securing a £10million loan.

United Tooling Solutions Ltd (UTS) will use the £10million funding facility from specialist bank Shawbrook to expand the business – specifically its distribution network – into the West Midlands, North West and Central Scotland.

UTS is the trading subsidiary of national buying group Troy (º£½ÇÊÓƵ) Limited, and is aiming to increase its operations through multiple acquisitions.

It recently moved its nerve centre from Barnstaple to the growing £210million Exeter Skypark development, near the city’s airport.

It also has bases in Bideford, Bristol, Dorset, Havant, Derby, Bridgend, and Bedford, and additionally has a comprehensive online operation.

UTS combines broad-line industrial supplies distribution with inventory management, as well as bespoke design and manufacture services for special tooling.

And now the acquisitions of Barnes JB Ltd, in Lancashire, ABT Machine Tools & Tooling Ltd, in Glasgow, and Kalem Ltd, in the West Midlands, will increase UTS’ footprint by 50% as it grows from six to nine trading locations.

Dave Jackson, Managing Director at UTS, said: “Although a relatively young organisation, we have a solid footprint already in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ but are ambitious for this business and are looking to expand through acquisition across the country.
