Sales of Ginsters vegan pasties have rocketed

The updated Ginsters Moroccan vegetable pasties prove to be a recipe for success

Sales of Ginsters Moroccan vegetable pasties have soared since the range went vegan.

The Cornish pasty business updated the veggie snack last spring – its first move into the vegan market with the surge in popularity of veganism.

The business said: “Our vegan Ginsters Moroccan pasty has had a very successful introduction.

“We have seen more than a 100 per cent uplift in sales following its vegan launch.”

It comes in the wake of recent figures from rival savouries business Greggs, who said a 15 per cent rise in turnover and a 52 per cent rise in pre-tax-profits in the previous six months had been helped by publicity surrounding its new vegan sausage rolls.

Ginsters is owned by Leicestershire-based food-to-go giant Samworth Brothers.

Samworth chief executive Flor Healy told BusinessLive that being able to add the word “vegan” to the branding on the front of the pasty packet had been a huge boost.

He said: “Ginsters is a fantastic brand and the vegan Ginsters has been spectacularly successful.
