A ready meals factory in south Wales has announced it's creating 180 new jobs.

RF Brookes, which is based in Newport, says the move is in response to what it describes as a "major boost" due to "changes from the continuing Covid-19 pandemic."

The prepared meals factory, which is owned by 2 Sisters Food Group, stated it will be creating the new roles following "consumer shopping habit changes" in recent weeks.

The roles have been announced in anticipation of "seasonal uplift", said 2 Sisters Food Group in a statement.

New roles include operatives, senior operatives, machine minder, quality assessor, hygiene operative and an industrial chef.

The RF Brookes site, previously part of Premier Foods' Brookes Avana business, was acquired by 2 Sisters Food Group in 2012.

Avana Bakeries was sold on again to Food Utopia in 2014, before closing its doors for good in 2017 with the loss of around 100 jobs.

2 Sisters Food Group is one of the largest food companies in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, with factories across Europe.
