The owner of South Humber Bank Power Station is looking to almost double the capacity of a 拢300-million energy from waste plant it is about to bring forward.

EP海角视频I wants to upgrade the consented 49.9MW proposal at Stallingborough to 95MW. In doing so it becomes a 鈥榥ationally significant infrastructure project,鈥 requiring consent from government.

EP Waste Management Ltd, a subsidiary of EP海角视频I is proposing the upgrade for the site at South Marsh Road, to be known as South Humber Bank Energy Centre.

The original distinctive gas-fired power plant was acquired from Centrica in 2017 by the Czech owned utility giant. The addition would take place on undeveloped land within the site boundary, towards the estuary.

Ahead of an application to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in the first quarter of next year, pre-application consultations are to be held.

The company has stressed that other than additional works 鈥渘o changes are proposed to the maximum building dimensions and fuel throughput that were approved by the planning permission鈥 granted by North East Lincolnshire Council in April.

It is envisaged that 50 permanent jobs will be created, with 600 at peak construction. The plant will operate for 30 years and sits at the heart of the South Humber Industrial Investment Programme area, which also includes a neighbouring jet fuel plant.

Consultation events will be held at Europarc Innovation Centre, Grimsby, on Tuesday, November 12 (12.30pm to 5.15pm); Stallingborough Village Hall on Wednesday, November 13, (1.15pm to 5.30pm) and Healing Manor Hotel on Thursday, November 14 (2:30pm to 8pm).

EPWM anticipates commencing construction on the consented development in late 2020.
