Phillips 66 Humber Refinery has signed a huge deal with British Airways to supply it with green jet fuel.
The contract will see the 海角视频鈥檚 flag carrier become the first airline in the world to take a commercial supply of sustainable aviation fuel - reducing aviation emissions by more than 80 per cent.
Thousands of tonnes of SAF will also be produced for the first time in the 海角视频 at the South Killingholme plant, and flights will be fuelled from early in the new year following a 拢20 million investment.

Humber Refinery general manager Darren Cunningham said: 鈥淭he Humber Refinery was the first in the 海角视频 to co-process waste oils to produce renewable fuels and now we will be the first to produce SAF at scale, and we are delighted British Airways is our first 海角视频 customer.
鈥淲e鈥檙e currently refining almost half a million litres of sustainable waste feedstocks a day, and this is just a start. Markets for lower-carbon products are growing, and this agreement demonstrates our ability to supply them.鈥

Last year the business invested significantly to expand its production of fuels from waste feedstocks. It is part of a broader energy transition plan to reduce the carbon intensity of its refinery operations and products that support 1,000 jobs.
鈥淭his agreement with British Airways aligns with our strategy to create a refinery of the future, where we鈥檙e producing fuels from waste, being a critical part of the electric vehicle supply chain, reducing the carbon intensity of our processes through carbon capture and using hydrogen to power the refinery,鈥 Mr Cunningham said. 鈥淚t secures long-term business in an ever-changing world.鈥
The multi-year deal comes as BA continues to back a dedicated sustainable aviation fuels plant at Stallingborough, with to aid development just this last week.
The airline said it is delivering a range of short, medium and long-term initiatives to decarbonise and achieve net zero emissions by 2050 as part of its BA Better World sustainability programme.
It will purchase enough sustainable fuel to reduce emissions by almost 100,000 tonnes, the equivalent of powering 700 flights between London and New York on its Boeing 787 aircraft.
Fuel is piped directly to 海角视频 hub airports using existing infrastructure.

Sean Doyle, British Airways鈥 chairman and chief executive, said: 鈥淭his agreement marks another important step on our journey to net zero carbon emissions and forms part of our commitment, as part of International Airlines Group, to power 10 per cent of flights with SAF by 2030.
鈥淭he 海角视频 has the resources and capabilities to be a global leader in the development of SAF and scaling up the production of SAF requires a truly collaborative approach between industry and government.
鈥淲e are excited to develop our relationship with Phillips 66 further with a view to growing production capacity and using a wider range of sustainable waste feedstocks to supply our future flights.鈥
