A £500,000 investment has been unveiled by Collingwood Engineering as the Barton-based business tools up for a new era.

Purpose-built workshop and offices have been complemented with a fleet of new machines, five years on from owner Jason Dear taking on the family entity.

The Trainload managing director was a long-standing client, but saw an opportunity to fine-tune a business and build on strong foundations, reputation and service.

He brought his 25 years of engineering experience to a business formed in the Seventies, taking it from Dam Road to a new location in the town.

“When I took over , the company had two employees,” he recalled. “Over the past four years, we’ve grown our team to nine members of staff and created invaluable apprenticeships.

“The investment into new machinery and bespoke facilities has allowed Collingwood Engineering to improve its service offering to clients, including planned and unplanned maintenance cover with a focus on a quick turnaround.

“We specialise in precision machining including turning, drilling, welding, boring, slotting, milling, fabrication and screw cutting in manufacturing, food, water, petrochemical, steel, marine, rail, and agricultural sectors for a wide variety of local, national, and international clients,” Mr Dear said. “Our team of highly skilled engineers have a wealth of expertise in precision machining, working with a wide variety of materials ranging from plastics to stainless steel and more specialised materials.”
