An agricultural fertiliser manufacturer that has established a new facility in Avonmouth says it is "ramping up" production as it targets expansion across the West of England and South Wales.
Glasson Fertilisers, a subsidiary of Wynnstay Group Plc, said its new 65,000-tonne fertiliser blending plant at the Port of Avonmouth marks its "long-term commitment" to the Ƶ agricultural sector.
The company also has Ƶ sites in Lancaster, Preston, Birkenhead, Goole in Yorkshire, and Angus in Scotland.
The Avonmouth site is equipped with blending and handling technology and capable of further capacity expansion, the company said.
“We’re very pleased to see our Avonmouth operation ramping up production in line with our plans,” said Robert Ingham, director of Glasson Fertilisers.
“Our investment is a clear signal of our intention to build our fertiliser business. We are proud to support British agriculture with reliable, high-quality products and advisory services that farmers can turn to when considering soil health and efficient crop production.”
The facility’s location at the Port of Avonmouth, a deep-sea port, will enable "efficient importation" of raw materials as well as effective distribution logistics, Glasson said.
“Our fertiliser business is a vital part of our future,” added Mr Ingham. “We are investing in the people, infrastructure, and technology needed to ensure we remain a leading Ƶ supplier of blended fertiliser and a trusted partner to farmers and the wider trade for years to come.”
Glasson Fertilisers has been producing and importing agricultural fertilisers since 1990 and now supplies merchants and farmers throughout England, Wales and Scotland.
Glasson Grain is based at the port of Glasson Dock, a few miles south of Lancaster on the north west coast of England. The company was founded in 1977 as a trader and importer of animal feed commodities.
