New boss tasked with trebling size of Derby aerospace components firm

A Derby firm which is one of the largest suppliers of aerospace components in Europe is looking to treble the size of the business after appointing a new chief executive.

Gardner Aerospace, which is based on Victory Park, in Victory Road, has appointed Dominic Cartwright to head up the business, which employs more than 2,000 people worldwide.

Gardner, which has sites in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, France, Poland and India, is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of detailed aerospace parts and sub-assemblies.

Two years ago the business was bought by Chinese firm Shaanxi Ligeance Mineral Resources, which has since rebranded as Ligeance Aerospace Technologies.

Mr Cartwright joined Gardner a year ago as vice-president of business development. In his new role, he will look to treble the size of the business through operational excellence, international expansion and the development of new technologies.

He said: “I’m incredibly proud to have been appointed as Gardner Aerospace’s chief executive and am relishing the opportunity to oversee the next phase of the company’s development.

“With the support of our parent company Ligeance Aerospace Technologies, we are continuing our international expansion and the years ahead promise to be significant.”

Mr Cartwright has more than 25 years’ industry experience, having held leadership roles in business development, engineering and operations within aerospace companies of various sizes, including Lucas Industries, Goodrich, Smiths Aerospace, GE and United Technologies.
