A manufacturer of garden buildings has secured £1.75 million in new capital to fund its growth plans and support employees taking a stake in the business.

Ornate Gardens, based in Coleshill, is a designer, assembler and manufacturer of nine high-end garden 'pods' with bespoke interiors, the largest of which can seat 12 people.

The new funding package comprised a loan facilitated by Caple and a working capital facility provided by Barclays Bank.

Ornate Gardens was founded by Wayne Farmer in the late 1980s and originally manufactured Victorian-style cast-iron lamps and water features.

Its focus moved towards the design and installation of high-end garden buildings and the company's first garden pod was launched in 2007 at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

It now sells online, at trade shows and via stockists such as John Lewis.

As part of the transaction, both sales director Richard Hill and operations director Mike Hales have invested in the business while Mr Farmer will continue as managing director and a major shareholder.

Mr Farmer said: "I am very excited about the future of Ornate Gardens and I am looking forward to building the business further alongside Richard and Mike.
