A giant coffee factory in Derbyshire owned by Nestle has started manufacturing Starbucks branded products, the firm has revealed.

The Nestle factory, located in Hatton, in the south of the county, has announced it has introduced the popular US brand to the list of products it makes following an agreement between the two firms last year.

The plant is best known for making Nestle’s popular Nescafe and Nescafe Dolce Gusto products.

Now the factory, which is regarded by Nestle as its global “centre of excellence for coffee” is producing classic Starbucks favourites like House Blend Americano, Cappuccino and Caramel Macchiato.

It comes following a deal which gives Nestle the perpetual rights to produce and market Starbucks coffee and tea products around the world (outside of Starbucks coffee houses and excluding ready-to-drink products).

As well as serving the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and Ireland markets, the factory also produces more than 35,000 tonnes of coffee a year in the form of Nescafe Original, Nescafe Gold and Nescafe Azera, and numerous varieties, including Starbucks, of Nescafe Dolce Gusto pods for coffee lovers across the EU and the rest of the world.

During a recent visit to the factory, Stefano Agostini, chief executive of Nestle º£½ÇÊÓƵ and Ireland, said: “It was a pleasure to tour our factory and meet some of the team working tirelessly to bring consumers in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and further afield their daily cup of coffee.

“Nestle leads the global coffee category and the factory plays a key role in satisfying the growing demand for quality coffee by producing our iconic Nescafe and trendy Starbucks brands.”
