Manchester sanitiser firm supplying London Underground sees turnover grow 2,000% this year

The business, founded in 2018, said the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic prompted a “sharp rise” in interest for its products

A Manchester hand sanitiser firm has said it has seen a huge surge in demand during 2020.

Wythenshawe-based OneSpray, which supplies its surface sanitiser to Transport for London’s (TFL) full fleet including its 600 tube trains, said its turnover has grown 2,000 per cent during the year.

OneSpray’s surface sanitiser and OneSpray’s hand sanitiser use Zoono technology, involving the application of small molecules to a surface, where they form covalent bonds and leave a series of microscopic pins that attract, pierce and destroy all bacteria and pathogens which come into contact with the surface, the firm said.

The business, founded in 2018, said it secured a six-figure working capital facility from Lloyds Bank, and has since secured a number of high-profile contracts, including with aviation services firm Swissport and within the care home sector.

OneSpray chief executive Marc Braterman said: “Since its inception, we’ve been committed to supplying products that genuinely make a difference and offer better protection to families, employees and customers.

“As a result, we’ve been incredibly well-placed to aid our customers in the fight against coronavirus.”

He said the support from Lloyds Bank has provided the firm with “the financial headroom to successfully respond to the incredible demand we’ve seen for our products and services”.

Mark Williamson, relationship director at Lloyds Bank, said: “OneSpray has had an important role to play throughout this pandemic by providing essential products and services to its customers.
