Life sciences firm Ipsen creating 50 jobs at its North Wales operation

Ipsen is investing further at Wrexham with a new drug product manufacturing facility

Life sciences firm Ispen is creating 50 high-skilled jobs at its North Wales operation.

Ipsen’s R&D and manufacturing operation in Wrexham, produces medicines to treat neurological conditions. In a boost to the operation it is investing £24m in a new flexible drug product manufacturing facility.

As the result of the expansion and growing global orders, Ipsen it now recruiting for new staff in roles including those in engineering, manufacturing science and technology, R&D and finance.

Welcoming the investment Secretary of State for Wales, Simon Hart, said:” The º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s life sciences industry is vitally important, and it’s wonderful to see investment coming into Wales, building on the talents of the workforce in Wrexham. Already Ipsen are exporting to over 90 countries from this site – a truly global operation.”

Matthias Krieger, vice-president for the Ispen’s Welsh facility said: “Wrexham is home to a highly-skilled workforce of approximately 400 colleagues, and we are all pleased and proud of the work that has led to this latest investment in the site. We have great ambition for Ipsen in Wrexham and we are exploring further potential expansion of the site in the future.”

Wrexham MP Sarah Atherton, who recently visited the site with Mr Hart,said: "Having long been a supporter of Ipsen and their brilliant and innovative work. Its new facility will be a huge boost for local jobs and the regional economy and I am so pleased that Ipsen have chosen, once again, to invest in our town.

"Wrexham is home to many exciting and thriving businesses, Ipsen being one of them, and this is another vote of confidence in all that we have to offer as a place to do business,”
