King's Award for export success through Covid for pharma packaging firm launched in Grimsby

ALLpaQ recognised for outstanding international trade after role in US vaccine roll-out

ALLpaQ, a business launched in Grimsby by Phill Allen, right, is to receive a King's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

A business launched from modest premises on Grimsby’s King Edward Street has been crowned in the King’s Awards for Enterprise.

ALLpaQ, a leading packaging manufacturer serving the pharmaceutical industry, was started by managing director Phill Allen in 2009. This past week has seen it named as an inaugural recipient of the renamed prestigious royal accolade, delighting the Cleethorpes-born entrepreneur.

Now based in Widnes, Lancashire, the first five years saw the bulk liquid specialist develop in North East Lincolnshire, before he headed across the M62 for personal family reasons.

Recognised in the International Trade category, ALLpaQ has exported to 26 countries and was a key supplier to many global Covid projects. Turnover recently hit £10 million, with a team of 55 now employed.

The citation focuses on the role in Operation Warp Speed, the US vaccine roll-out. ALLpaQ worked with the military, managing the Moderna operations, with overseas sales growing 176 per cent in the three year application period. Exports now account for 66 per cent of total turnover.
