Around 2,000 jobs could be lost at luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover, the company has announced.

The car maker has informed employees today it wishes to axe the posts over the next financial year,

All the affected roles are "salaried" positions including managers, designers, technicians and administration staff while factory workers are not at risk.

Earlier this week, JLR unveiled its future green strategy called 'Reimagine' including plans for Jaguar to be all electric in the next few years.

The car maker has major manufacturing operations in Halewood, Merseyside, and across the West Midlands including in Castle Bromwich, Wolverhampton and Solihull.

Its engineering centre and headquarters is in Gaydon, near Coventry, but it is not known where the affected jobs are located.

A statement from JLR said: "This week's announcement outlines our future strategy, not only including plans for our brands and vehicles but also how we will reimagine our entire business.
