An independent manufacturing group has ceased trading with the loss of 85 jobs.

H. Docherty, which traded as Docherty Group, made and distributed flue and chimney products, wood-burning stoves and heating appliances from ten º£½ÇÊÓƵ bases.

It was headquartered in Oldbury in the West Midlands and also provided specialist training courses for installers from its purpose-built facility in Ripley, Derbyshire.

Andrew Sheridan and Raj Mittal, partners at FRP Advisory, were appointed joint administrators of H. Docherty and also Newtec South West, which was based in Dunkeswell, Devon, and specialised in metal spinning.

A statement from FRP Advisory said the manufacturing group had faced several challenges in recent months following a reduction in sales and difficult trading conditions which had caused significant cashflow issues.

After unsuccessful attempts to raise additional funding, the director marketed the business and its assets for sale but was unable to find a buyer.

H. Docherty ceased to trade last week and all 73 employees were made redundant while Newtec South West closed for business on the same day with the loss of 12 staff.

The joint administrators are now marketing their assets for sale.
