A new chief executive is taking over this month at one of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’s biggest sandwich makers.

Hugo Mahoney is replacing Flor Healy in the top job at the £1 billion-plus turnover Samworths Brothers, based in Melton Mowbray, in Leicestershire.

Mr Healy announced he was retiring earlier this year after four years in the post.

During that time he saw the business – which owns Ginsters, Soreen and Dickinson & Morris pork pies – buy the Higgidy brand, in Sussex and the Urban Eat food-to-go brand of sandwiches, wraps, deli and street food.

He was also in charge as the business built back from the overnight crash in food-to-go sales following the March 2020 lockdown.

Mr Mahoney was previously chief executive of Brakes, the big º£½ÇÊÓƵ foodservice distributor, and will take over formally at family-owned Samworth Brothers at the end of this month.

He said: “Samworth Brothers has an impressive leadership team and business, and I am looking forward to contributing to its future success.

“We have a shared passion in quality food and innovation, and there are many future opportunities for the business.”
