Historic Derbyshire cheese-maker secures £8.5m funding boost from bank

A historic Derbyshire cheese-maker has secured a multi-million pound funding boost to help it expand into new markets.

Bradburys Cheese, based in Buxton, has been provided with an £8.5 million asset-based lending facility from Secure Trust Bank Commercial Finance

It now plans to use the financial support to increase its working capital, enabling a pipeline of new product ranges and growth plans of its customer base.

Bradburys Cheese was originally founded in 1884 by Reverend William John Bradbury. It was taken over in 1994 by the Paul family, which went on to create a large range of products, as well as supplying packaging, distributing and marketing.

Its top selling brands include Bradburys Export Cheese range, Monterey Jack, Truckle Bros and its Cricketer Farm cheese.

The firm has now grown from a £4 million turnover business to achieve revenues of more than £70 million.

It employs 180 people in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, the majority of whom are based at Buxton.

The company boasts over 100 clients across the world, from Australia to Hong Kong and is the sole supplier of cheese to the Falkland Islands.
