A new high-strength structural steel grade has been described as “British manufacturing at its best” at launch.
British Steel has introduced its first new product since the company was taken over by Jingye Group in March - with the S460M grade sections designed for use in multi-storey and high-rise buildings.
It also has a wide range of other commercial and industrial applications.
Chief executive Ron Deelen said it was the result of extensive research and development by the company’s metallurgy experts.
He said: “As the 海角视频’s only manufacturer of structural steel sections, we’re delighted to deliver a new high-quality steel grade at such an important time for the construction market.
“S460M provides the optimum balance between cost and weight, along with improved environmental performance – British manufacturing at its best.

The steel is manufactured in Scunthorpe before being rolled into structural sections at its Teesside Beam Mill where an extra shift, creating 40 jobs, was introduced earlier this year.
British Steel said its high-strength sections outperform existing steel grades through their higher tensile and yield strength.
Benefits of use include cost reduction through less weight needing lighter foundations, an increase in space within the building and a lower carbon footprint.

It has passed rigorous impact tests at prescribed temperatures at independent test facilities, ensuring full compliance with the Construction Products Regulation.
