La Compagnie will launch services on the first A321neo today

Airbus 50th Anniversary Formation Flight

A French airline has launched a 'business class only' service across the Atlantic using a new Airbus jet.

The aerospace giant with plants in Broughton and Bilton has delivered its first single-aisle A321neo to La Compagnie, an exclusively business-class French airline.

Services on the first A321neo commence today from Paris Orly Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport in the United States.

While the first delivery is to the exclusive airline the jet can be configured into various cabin options with a maximum capacity of 244 seats.

La Compagnie’s A321neo is powered by CFM International LEAP 1A new generation engines and features a business class only cabin with 76 full flat seats, offering passengers "unmatched comfort".

The cabin also includes a high level of connectivity onboard.

An Airbus spokesman said: "Selected for their outstanding operational efficiency, comfort and range, these new- generation single-aisle aircraft allow the French carrier to benefit from better fuel efficiency and lower operating costs on its transatlantic New York-Paris route."
