East Yorkshire vineyard's festive cheer as winery project uncorks new growth fund with first award

£40,495.77 awarded to South Cave firm RJ Wilson Ltd for Little Wold Vineyard

The Little Wold Vineyard family: Tom Wilson, Henry Wilson and Alice Maltby, who have benefitted from a Growing Hull & East Yorkshire grant from Humber LEP.

An East Yorkshire vineyard is celebrating some Christmas cheer after securing a first grant from a new pot as it creates its own on-site winery.

Little Wold has secured more than £40,000 for the South Cave project, having previously relied on third party production.

Owner RJ Wilson Ltd is introducing the capabilities, while creating a customer experience alongside warehousing.

The funds have been secured through the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership administered Growing Hull and East Yorkshire Fund.

Alice Maltby, partner in the business, said: “We are hugely grateful to the Humber LEP for selecting us to receive this grant. It has been a lifeline in these difficult times and is enabling us to grow our business despite the pandemic.

“We look forward to growing our team and producing more award winning wines here in East Yorkshire.”

Two new roles will be created for the business, where award-winning wines are currently produced off-site.

The move will make operations more effective, decrease transportation, and therefore the carbon footprint too. It will also enable duty-free storage.
