Donaldson Timber Engineering announces new technical director for Cambridge

A manufacturer of structural timber components has promoted an employee to technical director.

Donaldson Timber Engineering (DTE) has promoted Oli James, who will be overseeing Cambridge, as well as Ilkeston, in Derbyshire.

He will also be supporting and advising on technical standards and issues with national housebuilders and their technical teams.

Mr James said: “I’m really pleased to be taking on this new role and I am looking forward to new challenges ahead.

“I look forward to pushing DTE’s technical capabilities nationally and working alongside the rest of the team.”

He joined DTE in 2011 as general manager for the Ilkeston branch and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

Before joining DTE, he worked as a designer, then assistant manager and finally branch manager at Palgrave Brown. Mr James also worked as a field sales manager for SIG Roofing.

DTE managing director Luke Roberts said: “With hands–on experience of product design, combined with roles involving client support and manufacturing, Oli has a proven ability to understand the needs of our customers and ensure that we provide solutions to support their projects efficiently and cost effectively.”
