DHL staff at Jaguar Land Rover's Merseyside plant 'strongly back' strike action

Workers employed by DHL at Jaguar Land Rover Merseyside plant have given "strong backing" to strike action following a long-running pay and furlough dispute.

The Unite members at the plant were among the more than 2,000 balloted after a final pay offer was rejected by 96%. The strikes have also been backed by workers in Birmingham and Solihull.

Workers must give 14 days notice before any potential action, but it could mean serious disruption to car production across the country and cause December chaos for the two large firms.

Last month, union bosses warned that any potential strike involving DHL workers at Midland car giant Jaguar Land Rover would have a "serious and immediate" impact.

Unite national officer for road transport and logistics Matt Draper said: "We are holding further talks under the auspices of the conciliation service Acas on Wednesday (17 November) with DHL management over the pay issues relating to the DHL logistics workforce, who sort and deliver components at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sites across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ.
