A Derbyshire firm which makes women’s fashions has collected two golds at awards which recognise the best manufacturers in the region.

David Nieper, which has been designing and making fashion for ladies aged 50-plus for almost 60 years, triumphed in two categories at the regional heats of the national manufacturing awards programme organised by Make º£½ÇÊÓƵ, the manufacturers’ organisation.

The awards, sponsored by Japanese IT solutions provider Hulft, recognise excellence among manufacturing companies in six categories, as well as two apprentice categories.

At the Midlands and East annual dinner of Make º£½ÇÊÓƵ, David Nieper, which is based in Alfreton, collected gold in the Developing Future Talent and Sustainability categories.

Managing director Christopher Nieper said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been recognised in these prestigious awards – and to win in two categories is a real triumph for our family business.

“We take both our social and environmental responsibility seriously – so being recognised for Sustainability and Developing Future Talent means a lot.

“The fashion and textiles industry is increasingly highlighted as one of the world’s most polluting industries. It is evident that change needs to happen on a major scale.

“Winning a sustainability award goes to show that being a fashion manufacturer and a supporter of our planet are not mutually exclusive.
