Derby train-maker Bombardier is to take on 400 extra staff as it ramps up production on a number of big contracts.

The firm is looking to add to the workforce at its Litchurch Lane factory to help it deliver hundreds of carriages for three key customers - Greater Anglia, South Western Railway and West Midlands Trains.

The company has now launched a push to fill the positions at the Derby site through recruitment firm Shorterm Group.

Bombardier said it was welcoming applications from people of all backgrounds, in terms of age, level of experience and gender.

It said that bespoke training would be provided to people with a basic mechanical knowledge and experience of using hand tools who want to gain entry into the industry.
