Colton Packaging gets go-ahead to grow HQ

Business traces its roots back more than 150 years and makes sustainable, shelf-ready, transit and heavy-duty packaging

Green Light Given for Colton Packaging expansion

Colton packaging has won planning permission to start work expanding its headquarters.

The Leicestershire business has been given the go-ahead to extend its site in Hockey Close, Loughborough.

Charnwood Borough Council has given conditional planning for two new industrial units for storage and distribution at its Loughborough HQ.

The business, which can trace its roots back more than 150 years, makes sustainable, shelf-ready, transit and heavy-duty cardboard packaging for a range of clients.

Managing director Laura Colton-Smith said: "We’re really pleased that planning has been granted for two new units within our Loughborough site.

“The new buildings form part of our long-term growth plans and will provide much needed additional space for the storage and distribution of our corrugated packaging solutions."

She said the investment will add 10,800 sq ft to the Loughborough site, increasing the footprint of the headquarters to more than 65,000 sq ft. It is also expected to create two news jobs, with an additional driver and warehouse person in 2023.

She said: “We see this as long-term investment in the site and the wider community, enabling us to grow and create a long-term asset for future generations of the Colton family.
