Colette Cohen OBE appointed new chair of National Composites Centre

The NCC works across all industrial sectors to solve some of the world’s most complex engineering challenges

A tech and engineering research and development centre in South Gloucestershire has appointed a new chair to its steering board.

Colette Cohen OBE will take up the role at the National Composites Centre (NCC), which works across all industrial sectors to solve some of the world’s most complex engineering challenges.

Colette will be responsible for providing independent scrutiny to ensure the NCC is successful in achieving its mission and strategic objectives.

She will also advise the University Executive Committee on NCC and strategic matters, and support and challenge the NCC chief executive, Richard Oldfield.

Collette said: “I am delighted to join the NCC board and forge closer cross-industry partnerships, allowing us to transform how we operate, inspire innovation and ultimately lead the way in energy transition technologies.”

Colette has worked in the oil and gas sector for more than 25 years and was previously chief executive of the Oil and Gas Technology Centre (OGTC). She has also previously served on the board of Oil & Gas º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and the OGA Decommissioning Board.

She is now the chair of the National College for Onshore Oil and Gas, sits on the Technology Leadership Board and is a non-executive director for oil and gas industry body OPITO and international petroleum company Noreco.

She is also a commissioner for the Just Transition Commission for Scotland and received an OBE for her services to the industry and government collaboration in the 2020 New Year’s Honours list.
