A Cheshire farm which supplies major supermarkets and is owned by the Duke of Westminster, one of the richest people in the country, increased its turnover during 2020, new accounts have revealed.

Grosvenor Farms, which is based near Aldford, has posted a turnover of £11.4m for the 12 months to December 31, 2020, up from £10.6m in the prior year.

However, the group's pre-tax profits dipped from £1.5m to £825,000.

Grosvenor Farms produces milk and cereal grains and is aiming to become a net zero carbon operation by 2030.

It produces over 35m litres of fresh milk a year – enough for half a million people every day – and grow 2,200 hectares of forage and grains for food production and animal feed.

The company is owned by Hugh Grosvenor, seventh Duke of Westminster, who alongside his family, are 12th on Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated net worth of £10.045bn.

A statement signed off by the board, in documents filed with Companies House, said: "[The] Covid-19 outbreak has caused extensive disruptions to businesses and economic activities globally.
