Chancellor George Osborne said his Budget was for the country’s “makers and doers”.

In his opening statement, the Chancellor said he would continue on the course the Government had started.

He promised the Budget would be manufacturing-focused, and said he would “ensure hard-working people keep more of what they earn and more of what they save”.

He said: “If you are a maker a doer or a saver this Budget is for you

“It is all part of a long term economic plan which is delivering security for the futue of this country.”

Mr Osborne told MPs: “The economy is continuing to recover and recovering faster than forecast... we held our nerve, we’re putting Britain right. But the job is far from done.”
