A Bristol-based engineering firm has announced a new partnership which will see it supply technology for an America's Cup race boat.
Hydraulics specialist Domin has said it will provide the INEOS Britannia sailing team with state-of-the-art high-performance servo valves, which are designed to enhance the performance and agility of their race boat.
The British sailing team is owned and backed by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the founder and chairman of chemicals giant INEOS, and led by the most successful Olympic sailor of all time, Sir Ben Ainslie, who is team principal, chief executive and skipper.

Scale-up business Domin, which recently expanded its office on Colston Avenue in Bristol city centre, said its components can operate with at very high-pressure level, while minimising leakage, enabling the INEOS Britannia team to reduce the overall weight of its boat and minimise aerodynamic drag.

The America’s Cup was first held in 1851 making it the oldest competition in international sport. The race will be staged for a 37th time later this year in Barcelona, during September and October.
The deal comes after Domin recently announced its involvement in a £36m project which is aiming to help decarbonise the aviation industry. As part of the government-back trial, Domin will provide a digital system to replace a crucial component of an aircraft's control system, which enables pilots to manipulate its flaps and rudder, during flight.
