Mildlands-based brick business Ibstock has revealed plans to invest £45 million in a new factory near Walsall.

The plans was reported in preliminary accounts for last year which showed growth in its clay and concrete divisions helped Ibstock report a 5 per cent growth in sales to £409 million.

The business said it had achieved a "resilient" trading performance for the year, against a backdrop of political and economic uncertainty and reduced new build housing activity in the second half of 2019.

The business said production volumes had benefited from its new Eclipse brick factory in north west Leicestershire - which had more than double capacity at its headquarters to 190 million bricks a year.
