A Black Country manufacturer has created 20 new jobs after securing a £25 million order from a firm in Bahrain.

Mechatherm International is based in Kingswinford and specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of bespoke furnaces used to produce aluminium.

Its new contract is to supply and maintain a series of furnaces for an unnamed aluminium producer, prompting Mechatherm to increase the size of its workforce from 50 to 70 to meet the increased demand.

The company sells to more than 50 countries globally, with exports accounting for around 85 per cent of its turnover.

It is also planning to open its first office in Dubai later this year in order to bolster its presence in the Middle East.

Mechatherm International has been working with the Department for International Trade on accessing overseas markets.

Ian Harrison, director of exports for the Midlands, said: "The success of Mechatherm is largely driven by exports.

"The business has secured some significant contracts abroad recently and it's fantastic to see the positive benefits locally, with new jobs being created right here in Dudley.
