A huge £40million aerospace manufacturing and design centre is set to be built in Gloucestershire for a global aircraft component and systems maker.

Developer and investment firm Barberry Industrial, which controls the 10-acre site at Ashchurch, Tewkesbury, agreed the deal with engineering giant Moog.

The 184,000 sq ft centre of excellence for Moog's Aircraft Controls Segment will be built on the site at the A46, near junction nine of the M5, and will be let out to Moog on a 35-year lease.

The off-market agreement is believed to be one of the biggest deals the industry has seen this year.

An application for planning consent for the new facility will be submitted to Tewkesbury Borough Council this month, with construction expected to start in the first quarter of 2021.

The facility will incorporate engineering and administration offices and is expected to be operational in 2023.

The facility, which could expand to a total of 207,000 sq ft, will be carbon neutral and built to a BREEAM Excellent standard, according to Barberry.

Jon Robinson, development director and shareholder of Barberry Industrial, said: “We are clearly thrilled to be selected as development partner by Moog to deliver the company’s new facility on our prominent site in Gloucestershire.
