Armoured steel contract win for new MoD Boxer landed in South Yorkshire

MTL Advanced will provide material for hull assembly in multi-million pound multi-year contract

South Yorkshire-based MTL Advanced is to supply armoured steel for a key º£½ÇÊÓÆµ defence programme.

The multi-million pound multi-year contract has been awarded to the Rotherham firm jointly by Stockport-based WFEL and parent company KMW.

The armoured material will be used in the Boxer Armoured Vehicle's hull assembly, which will be fabricated at WFEL’s specialist manufacturing centre of excellence in Stockport.

MTL Advanced has invested more than £2 million in new capital equipment to help support the project and meet increased demand. It has contributed to creation of 30 new jobs, with 12 apprentices joining the ranks back in September.
