Northern Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical company has created another 20 positions in the north west of the province.

Almac Group said the move is part of the expansion of its site on Northland Road Business Park in Londonderry which it set up in June last year.

It initially employed 10 people and aims to build the facility out to a headcount of 100.

This latest round of jobs includes positions in information systems, clinical services, clinical technologies and no experience of the pharmaceutical sector is needed.

“These 20 new posts, alongside the 10 that we have already filled mean that we are well on our way towards meeting our goal of recruiting 100 employees at our new location in the North West by the end of 2024,” Alan Armstrong, CEO, Almac Group, said. “Almac is experiencing significant growth and filling these roles will bolster our ability to continue to support our many clients across the globe.”

Almac is headquartered in Craigavon and has experienced significant growth over the last few years, announcing the creation of 1,800 new jobs globally last year, 1,000 of which will be based in Northern Ireland.

Almac focuses on developing and manufacturing drugs on contract for clients, providing a range of services from research and development to commercial-scale manufacture of products.

It currently has over 6,000 employees located in 19 locations across the world, 3,600 of whom are based at its global Headquarter campus in Craigavon.
