Airbus workers at Broughton and Filton returning to plants today

More than 5,000 workers at the two site were sent home for an early Easter break last month

Airbus workers are returning to work this morning after nearly a month as production is stepped back up.

In March around 5,500 staff out of 9,300 workers at Broughton in North Wales and Filton, near Bristol, were sent home for an early start to the Easter holidays - initially for three weeks with the usual 'summer' shutdown brought forward.

It was extended earlier this month to April 20 while around 500 agency workers largely employed by contractor

It comes as of the A320 from 60 to 40 while also reducing A350 rates from 10 to 6.

Thousands of production and production support staff will today arrive back as activities restart.

Staff not involved in production activities will continue to work from home where possible.

The sites have been open in recent weeks with limited work taking pace and the company said it has been building on "strong foundations" of health and safety, social distancing and hygiene.

An Airbus spokesman said: "Our work has been intense, extensive and thorough.
