Airbus has released a statement as coronavirus sees planes grounded and deliveries and orders deferred.

Airlines Qantas and Lufthansa are reportedly temporarily grounding A380 planes as passenger numbers fall due to the deadly virus.

Airbus is also in negotiations about deferring deliveries - although Airbus said these discussions are "confidential".

Australian airline Qantas is delaying the purchase of Airbus A350-1000 jets for Project Sunrise, the planned world's longest flights between Sydney and London.

Despite this Airbus says it remains on target for 880 deliveries in 2020.

Airbus issued this update: "Airbus continues to closely monitor the situation and any impact on its customers and the supply chain.

"In addition Airbus has updated its travel recommendations to employees as well as its recommendations to people coming to Airbus sites.

"The updates are based on the WHO recommendations and adapted to reflect the global Airbus business environment.
