East Yorkshire holiday home builder ABI has secured a £600,000 deal to supply caravans to a well-known park in Cornwall.

The Beverley-based manufacturer will deliver 25 luxury properties to Mother Ivey’s Bay Holiday Park in Padstow this summer.

It comes as ABI also becomes the first holiday home manufacturer in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ to become Living Wage-accredited.

The firm has pledged to pay all of its staff an hourly rate of at least £9.

Richard Jones, CEO of ABI, said: “The caravan industry in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ employs over 130,000 people and is a significant contributor to º£½ÇÊÓƵ tourism, however, surprisingly we are the only holiday home manufacturer to commit to paying our staff the real Living Wage.

“We hope that by taking this step we will set new standards across the industry and raise the bar to ensure that our people are paid enough to enjoy life.

“Our support of the real Living Wage was about ensuring that the commitment and work that our employees give is rewarded with a fair wage but has also secured us major new contracts with like-minded partners.

“We are delighted to be hosting Mr Langmaid in Beverley today, as he chooses his latest accommodation, and we look forward to working with him for many years to come.”
