A Cheltenham-founded members club for women in business has appointed a new chief marketing officer.

Taofiqah Akorede has joined not-for-profit enterprise Women’s Business Club as the organisation transitions to a co-operative model.

Founded in 2013 by Angela De Souza, Women’s Business Club started as a lunch club and has since grown to become a movement that champions women entrepreneurs and professionals across the globe.

“This is an incredibly exciting step for our community,” said Ms De Souza, who announced her departure from the organisation last month.

“By welcoming Taofiqah into this leadership role, we’re not only expanding our capacity to serve women in business, we’re also reinforcing the values that sit at the heart of this transformation. The co-op is about shared power and shared success, and Taofiqah’s vision will help us achieve exactly that.”

Ms Akorede will be involved in driving the organisation’s growth, strengthening its governance, and ensuring its co-op values translate into "meaningful opportunities for women worldwide", Ms De Souza added.

“I’m honoured to step into the role of CMO at such a defining time,” said Ms Akorede. “The co-operative model gives women a true stake in shaping the future of this organisation, and I look forward to building campaigns and initiatives that reflect the strength, creativity, and ambition of our members.”

The founding phase of the co-operative closes on October 20, 2025, offering early supporters the opportunity to become co-owners
