The winners are revealed at the 2021 Nottinghamshire Live Business Awards

The 2021 winners include a private hospital, donut company and a sweetie gifts company

The business awards get underway

One of the country’s biggest suppliers of sand for sports, horse riding, landscaping and industrial work has been named Nottinghamshire Live’s 2021 Company of the Year.

Mansfield Sand, which has been quarrying sand in north Notts for almost 200 years, picked up the top prize at the 2021 Business Awards last night.

The black tie event, hosted in association with , was held at the , and was concrete proof that Nottingham and the wider county are well and truly open for business.

Mansfield Sand is one of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s leading providers of silica sand based products for the whole sports turf industry – including major sporting venues and stadiums such as Nottingham Forest and Leicester City FC.

Mansfield Town FC head groundsman Michael Merriman recently revealed how its products had contributed to a ‘massive improvement’ to the pitch at the One Call Stadium.

The 2021 awards’ other winners included Nottingham wealth management specialist The RU Group which was named SME Business of the Year, while TTK Confectionary was named Business Entrepreneur of the Year.

Based on Nottingham’s Robin Hood Industrial Estate, TTK is a family-owned business headed up by Martin Barnett, supplying food gift packs which are sold through outlets including Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Moonpig and WHSmith.

It specialises in well designed, edible gifts based around trending flavours, prints and packaging, and has a team of designers to help it provide products to major retailers all over the world.
