Some of Plymouth’s most established companies have been honoured alongside the city’s most ambitious new and growing businesses at the PlymouthLive Business Awards.

Law firm Wolferstans Solicitors and engineering consultancy Service Design Solution were named as businesses of the year, large and SME respectively, at the black-tie event at Plymouth Pavilions.

And the coveted Lifetime Achievement honour went to David Young, founder and managing director of the Una Group, who for years has built respect throughout the business community and served on the Plymouth Growth Board and helped bring the America's Cup World Series to the Sound in 2011.

Joining him on the winners podium were a galaxy of stars from the city’s business firmament, including the mighty Babcock International Group Plc, to the youthful Pollenize CIC and Paige Brown of Mila’s Bakery.

The event was the latest version of the annual contest designed to honour the brightest and best in the PlymouthLive area.

Glamorous guests at the Pavilions were entertained by awards presenters Claire Jones and Alex Wood, both former PlymouthLive journalists who have gone on to TV fame with BBC and ITV respectively.

And the audience was enthralled by the words of keynote speaker Victoria Pomery, chief executive of the city’s newest cultural attraction: The Box.
